The Town of Avon is located along the scenic Eagle River. In the early days this area was inhabited by the Ute Indians who called this area “the shining mountains” and came each summer to hunt mule deer, elk and even buffalo.
Avon, with just over 6,000 full-time residents, is best known as a gateway to the world-class Beaver Creek Resort. However, this town is also called the “Heart of the Valley” for its geographic location as well as its strong sense of community. Avon has come into its own with a host of welcoming new arts and cultural venues.
Avon has created a pedestrian mall that includes bronze sculptures, play areas and small performance spaces. The 48-acre Harry A. Nottingham Park offers a host to special events, including “Salute to the USA”, the largest fireworks display in the Colorado Rockies; Flavors of Colorado, a celebration of art, food, musicians and craft brewers and distillers. To top it all off, a stage with enough space for a 60-piece orchestra – and a connecting dressing room area.
And the athlete in you could not ask for more: Skiing is just a lift away from the Riverfront Express Gondola at The Westin, or you can access skiing from the base of Beaver Creek Mountain Resort. The bicycle path and Eagle River are practically out your door no matter where in town you live.
The center of Avon offers a plethora of restaurants from casual to fine dining, services including elegant salons and physical therapy and shopping that ranges from a large grocery store to clothing stores, sports shops, and home stores. In short, Avon has everything you want or need.
Just above the town of Avon, is the neighborhood of Wildridge, which arguably has the most dramatic views of Beaver Creek in the Vail Valley. Wildridge offers miles of hiking and biking trails, access to open space, and unparalleled views of wildlife when you least expect it!
In addition to its magnificent views, the proximity of Wildridge to the shopping and amenities that Avon offers, makes the area very appealing. Minutes to the world-class skiing of Beaver Creek Mountain Wildridge has the outdoor enthusiast busy year-round.
An added bonus is a fabulous view of Avon’s 4th of July fireworks; the biggest display in western Colorado!
